It’s easy. Come to klay (ideally with a booking so we can secure your spot) and pick your favourite ceramic from our selection of 10+ options.
Now it’s time to get creative and paint your piece – luckily, we have plenty of inspo for you. Don’t forget: in our experience, ceramic painting is even more fun with a charcuterie board and a spritzer at your side.
Once you’re happy with your work, we’ll get it glazed for you and send it off to our in-house kiln for firing. In just over a week, we’ll message you and organise pick-up or delivery of your finished ceramic via Gojek.
Absolutely not. At klay, we believe anyone can be an artist, and luckily, ceramic painting is actually quite easy even for beginners.
We promise you’ll have fun – it’s all about enjoying the process.
Sorry babe, we exclusively offer ceramic painting at klay. That means you don’t have to get your hands dirty to get creative, and the finished piece you’ll take home will look amazing – even if you’re not a ceramics pro.
Plus, the firing process is much quicker since our pieces don’t need to dry before they go in the kiln. You can pick them up in just a few days instead of weeks.

You’re welcome to paint as many ceramics as you like during your time at klay.
We don’t have a time limit for painting ceramics at Klay. Just be mindful of our opening hours, and we’re happy to host you until your work of art is finished.
We get it, art cannot be rushed. If you do not manage to finish your ceramic during your time at klay, we’re happy to keep it for you until you return. Please note that this is limited to a time period of four weeks due to storage constraints.
If you have a complicated and time-intensive design planned, we highly recommend coming to klay early to ensure you have enough time.
We have a catalogue of 10+ ceramic items available to paint at klay bar and bistro. This includes plates, bowls, mugs, and much more. Please check our catalogue on Instagram for more information.
Generally, our ceramics are microwave safe, although we do not recommend putting them in the dishwasher frequently, as it may damage the glaze over time. Treat them with care and they will last forever.
Once glazed and fired, all ceramics made at klay bar are 100% food safe.
Your finished masterpieces will be ready for pick-up in 7 to 10 days.
We’ll send you a little reminder via WhatsApp when they’re done and help you arrange delivery if needed.
If you are in a rush, please let our staff know before you start painting.
Once your ceramic has been glazed and fired, you’ll receive a WhatsApp message from our team at the number you provided us with.
You can get a friend to pick up your finished ceramics for you at klay. Just make sure they have a screenshot of your pick-up notification, and inform our team beforehand.
We try our absolute best to handle your ceramic with the care it deserves. However, in rare cases, accidents happen and your ceramic may break during the delicate firing process in our on-site kiln.
While this is unlikely to happen, we’ll inform you right away if it does and will make up for it.
Due to our very limited space on site, we are unable to store your ceramics for more than six weeks after they have been fired. If you think this is not enough time for you to pick them up, please notify the team, and we will do our best to make arrangements.
Ceramics that are not picked up after six weeks will be repurposed or available for purchase to support a good cause.
We make sure to wrap all our ceramics carefully in our klay-branded packaging. Since our priority is that your ceramics are packaged safely in thick wrapping paper, we are unable to offer gift wrapping at this time.
Please let our staff know if you are planning on taking your ceramics on the plane with you. We’ll make sure to package them extra carefully for you.
Unfortunately, we are unable to ship ceramics outside of Bali. Please make sure that you’ll have enough time to pick them up before you leave the island, or have a friend who can store them for you.
If you’ve already left Canggu when your ceramics are ready to be picked up, we are happy to assist you in organising transport via Gojek (additional charges apply).
However, this is limited to Ubud, Seminyak, Uluwatu, Jimbaran, Kuta, Sanur, and Denpasar, or similar areas.
In our experience, shipping outside this general radius is challenging with delivery apps, and we do not recommend it.
Please note we cannot take responsibility for ceramics that are damaged during the transport process.
Walk-ins are welcome at klay, but we recommend booking ahead for groups or weekends – it gets busy when the paint starts flowing!
Please note that reservations are essential for our events and classes.
For reservations, please use our booking system and leave a note regarding your table preference. We’ll be happy to seat you in your favourite spot if possible.
Painting a ceramic can take ten minutes or two hours. It all depends on your design and how much fun you’re having.
Most people take around 45 to 60 minutes per piece.
We can help you plan your party, birthday, bachelorette, or private event at klay. Just contact us on WhatsApp and we’ll let you know about our current offers.
While klay is a ceramic painting bistro, there is no pressure to paint a ceramic during your visit. You can just come by for a drink or our amazing menu if you like.
We sure do. You’ll love our carefully crafted cocktail and spritzer menu, especially our Aperol spritz, mimosas, and espresso martinis. Not into drinking? Try our extensive mocktail menu, which proves you don’t need alcohol to have fun.
If you plan on visiting klay with a furry friend, we ask that they remain on a leash and be well-behaved. We allow dogs on our upstairs terrace, but due to the large amount of fragile ceramics, we do not permit them downstairs.
Please note that you are responsible for your pet during your visit, and need to ensure that they do not ingest any glaze or damage ceramics.
You can shop our hats, bags, t-shirts, and much more in-store, or ask our friendly staff via WhatsApp.
We’re located on one of Canggu’s busiest streets, and parking space can be tight. We can usually squeeze in scooters, but there is little to no space for a car to park at klay unfortunately.
Please be mindful of our very limited parking when arriving by car and possibly ask your driver to wait at one of Canggu’s nearby parking lots.
We’ve got the best of both worlds at klay. You can either sit in our air-conditioned main room downstairs, or head upstairs to our breezy open-air terrace with lots of fans to keep you cool.
We welcome families with children of all ages at klay and usually recommend our family-oriented events or a visit during the day.
Please note that ceramic glaze should not be ingested, and parents are responsible for their own children during the painting process. For this reason, we recommend ceramic painting for children aged six and up.
